ABCO Security partnered with the Southeast Kentucky Chamber to host an open-house event in Prestonsburg on Wednesday, March 6, during which the staff offered tours of the facility, discussed the numerous services offered and gave out free merchandise to visitors.

ABCO Security offers security systems for both home and businesses. The company was founded in 1981 by Robert Welch and is headquartered in Prestonsburg. Today, the Welch legacy lives on as Robert’s son, Tim, leads the company, and Tim still recognizes the importance of family, a lesson learned from his father.

“My dad always used to say that when we put a system in for somebody, we ‘adopted them,’” said Tim, referring to the importance of protecting families. “That’s our mission every day is to protect businesses and homes, and that’s something we don’t take lightly.”

Tim said the business began after his father noticed he had been burglarized after returning from a long work shift, at which point he began selling security systems.

“My dad is a former coal miner, that’s how this business was built,” said Tim. “We truly are here to protect your families.”
