PIKEVILLE, KY (February 16, 2024) – The Southeast Kentucky Chamber’s Patton Leadership Institute (PLI) held its most recent session on Thursday, February 1, 2024 in Frankfort, KY. The cohort visits a different county each session. PLI will visit Pike County on March 7, 2024.

The PLI Class of 2024 met at the Kentucky Chamber Annex where they were hosted by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Executives, represented by Executive Director, Amy Cloud.

To begin the day, Secretary of State Michael Adams spoke to the group about the role his office plays in state governance, and he spoke on meeting the needs of voters across the Commonwealth. Amy Cloud then gave insight into the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and how it is a hub for local businesses across the state for resources and advocacy. John Cox, of the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, spoke on his work in advocating for pro-business policies in the Kentucky Legislature. Jeff Noel, Secretary of the Cabinet for Economic Development spoke on the importance of strong leadership and working with a team to achieve set goals.

The cohort then traveled to the Capitol where they were met by State Senator Phillip Wheeler, who granted them access to the Senate gallery and recognized PLI on the Senate floor. The group also received a tour of the Capitol building.

“It was an honor for PLI to be recognized on the Kentucky Senate floor by Senator Wheeler,” said Jimbo Howard, assistant store manager for Food City. “We had a great day visiting Frankfort and meeting so many of our state’s leaders and learning about state government. I’m grateful to our hosts, speakers, and sponsors that met with us today.”
