Pikeville, KY (March 7,2023) Patton Leadership Institute is a comprehensive and intensive training program aimed at developing and expanding leadership skills for people in various professions such as business, government, education, and non-profit organizations. The program consists of a series of sessions designed to help participants develop their leadership skills and increase their knowledge of the region they call home.

The day-long Pike County session featured a dynamic lineup of speakers and interactive sessions aimed at fostering leadership development in individuals. Attendees had the opportunity to learn from experienced leaders in their respective fields, share ideas, and network with other professionals.

Dr. Karen Damron, dean of the University of Pikeville’s Elliott School of Nursing led the group on a guided tour of the nursing labs. This visit provides the participants with insights into the health care industry and its various aspects. Dr. Damron guided the group through the facilities, including the simulation laboratory and the various classrooms, which were recently renovated and now represent the leading-edge in nursing education. She also provided the group with an overview of the nursing programs offered at the school and the benefits of pursuing a career in nursing.

During their visit to the Big Sandy Heritage Center Museum Center, the group learned about the rich history and culture of the Big Sandy region. The museum showcases artifacts and exhibits from the area's native cultures, early settlers, and local industries such as coal, timber, and agriculture.
